Getting to Neuhof-Illkirch nature reserve
Neuhof-Illkirch Nature Reserve is 4 km from Strasbourg city center. Take one of the four entrances into the forest and start your visit:
North-East entrance, near the “Coucou des Bois” restaurant
By public transport, take bus 24 and get off at the “Coucou des Bois” stop. Journey time: 30 min. from Strasbourg city center. The entrance to the reserve is 150m away on Rue de la Lisière.
By bike through the districts of Neudorf, Neuhof, and Stockfeld. Journey time: 25 min. from Strasbourg city center.
By car, through the districts of Neuhof and Stockfeld. Journey time: 20 min. from Strasbourg city center. There is a car park on Rue de la Lisière near the restaurant.
Central entrance, close to the “L’Oberjaegerhof” restaurant
By bike, through the districts of Neudorf, Neuhof, and Ganzau. Journey time: 35 min. from Strasbourg city center.
By car, through the districts of Neuhof and Ganzau. There is a car park across from the L’Oberjaegerhof restaurant. Journey time: 25 min. from Strasbourg city center.
We do not recommend starting your visit from this entrance if you are traveling by public transport. The nearest bus stop is 2 km away.
North entrance, along the old “Route de la Faisanderie”
By public transport, take bus 40 and get off at the “Saint Ignace” stop. The entrance is 20 m from the bus stop. Journey time: 35 min. from Strasbourg city center.
By bike, through the districts of Neudorf, Meinau and Ganzau. Journey time: 25 min. from Strasbourg city center.
By car, through the districts of Neuhof and Ganzau. There is no designated car park at this entrance, find a space on one of the adjacent streets. Journey time: 20 min. from Strasbourg city center.
West entrance, Chemin du Rheingartenweg
By public transport, take tram line A, and get off at the “Campus d’Illkirch” stop. You will then need to walk a further 1.7 km, crossing through the Parc d’Innovation d’Illkirch. Journey time: 45 min. from Strasbourg city center.
By car, cross the Parc d’Innovation west of Illkirch-Graffenstaden (Boulevard Sébastien Brant then Rue Tobias Stimmer), before parking in the small car park at the end of Chemin du Rheingartenweg. Journey time: 20 min. from Strasbourg city center.
*A new footpath plan is soon to be released formulated in conjunction with local stakeholders and residents. This plan shows the paths open to the public and the paths that will be permanently closed to create “quiet zones” for the plants and animals. While we appreciate this will cause some disruption, the forest’s natural environment will improve for the benefit of wildlife and visitors.
