Neuhof-Illkirch Nature Reserve is a natural habitat open to the public all year round.
Come and explore its network of signed footpaths and discover the different habitats within it, being sure to observe the code of conduct at all times.
Guided tours
Free guided tours given by reserve staff are organized on weekdays all through the year and on Saturday on special request.
Duration: 2-4 hours
Audience: schools, adults, associations, etc.
Walking circuit themes in the nature reserve
The “Coucou des Bois” footpath
On this easy walking trail, you might cross paths with the different species of woodpecker that live in Neuhof Nature Reserve. Be patient and keep your ears open and maybe you’ll be lucky enough to spot a great spotted woodpecker, middle spotted woodpecker or the iconic black woodpecker.
Special Regulations and Code of Conduct
To protect the site in the long term and reconcile nature conservation with human activities, special regulations have been put in place in Rohrschollen Island Nature Reserve.
Any person who contravenes the regulations will be liable to a penalty. Environmental police officers patrol this site. In addition to monitoring the site, officers are on hand to provide information and educate the public. Feel free to ask questions to our officers patrolling the reserve.
Getting to Neuhof-Illkirch nature reserve
Neuhof-Illkirch nature reserve is 4 km away from Strasbourg city center. Four different entrances are available for you to access the forest and start your visit. You can either come by car, public transportation, riding your bike, or even on foot.
