The Nature Reserve designation provides high-level protection underpinned by strict rules and regulations. The aim is to preserve natural spaces and to protect species and habitats threatened with extinction. If we wish to save our rich natural heritage so future generations can also enjoy it, it is our duty to behave in a way that is kind to the environment on these sites.
Neuhof-Illkirch Nature Reserve is a natural habitat open to the public all year round.
Come and explore its network of signed footpaths* and discover the different habitats within it, being sure to observe the code of conduct at all times.
* A new footpath plan is soon to be released formulated in conjunction with local stakeholders and residents. This plan shows the paths open to the public and the paths that will be permanently closed to create “quiet zones” for the plants and animals. While we appreciate this will cause some disruption, the forest’s natural environment will improve for the benefit of wildlife and visitors.
Important:
To provide a peaceful safe haven for wildlife, dogs are not permitted inside the reserve.
