Take public transportation
The nearest bus stop is the “Eurofret” stop on bus route 27 – Baggersee / Neuhof Lorient / Port Autonome Sud. There is still a 2.3 km walk from this stop to reach the entrance to the nature reserve. Be careful when taking the 500-meter sidewalk along Rue du Rheinfeld.
From the city center, bus route 27 can be reached by tram (lines A, C or E).
Journey time: 1h20.
Enjoy a bike ride
To avoid the port area and the heavy vehicle traffic around this area, we recommend cycling from Strasbourg city center through the Neuhof district and along the edge of the Stockfeld district.
Journey time: 40 min.
If you are feeling athletic and have a suitable bike, you can make a detour into Germany and return to Strasbourg via the Jardins des Deux-Rives. There is a diversion weir at the far south end of the island which provides a bridge across the Rhine for pedestrians and cyclists. Then follow the path along the river’s west bank heading north to Kehl.
Take a car
From Strasbourg city center, head in the direction of Kehl before driving through the Port Autonome Sud area. Take Route de la Rochelle until the junction with Rue du Rheinfeld: turn left there and follow the signs for the reserve (and the incineration plant).
Where to park:
The Reserve is located on the far side of the lock and the hydroelectric dam, which you need to cross to reach the car park.
The main car park is situated 700 m after the dam, opposite the entrance to the EDF site (see map). Once you have parked in the reserve, cross the small bridge (by the pedestrian crossing) then follow the arrows to cross the dike: the entrance gate is on the other side.
