Hyla arborea

DescrIption

I am a small frog measuring between 30 and 50 mm. I typically have an apple green back and a white underside. I have a dark brown stripe running from my eyes to my groin.

Diet

My tadpoles eat algae. The adults of my species eat mainly insects and aquatic invertebrates.

Reproduction

Breeding starts in March-April and ends no later than July with a spike from mid-April to mid-May. Tadpoles metamorphosize into frogs two to three months after hatching.

Lifespan

I can live up to 15 years.

Where and when can you find me in the reserve ?

Habitat

I live in sunny ponds and ox-bow lakes, preferably at the forest edge or surrounded by bushes and reed beds.

When to spot me

I am generally active from April to September.

Did you know?

I’m a great jumper and can leap up to 2 meters to find a sunny spot in the vegetation to relax.
